ABOUT

Currently a senior at ‘Iolani School, I joined Imua in the 9th grade—a natural choice given my love for reading and writing. Over the years, I’ve taken on different roles—Photo Editor, Print Content Editor, and now Print Editor-in-Chief—but my mission has remained constant: to uphold Imua’s commitment to being “a voice for students.”

What began as a way to improve my writing skills grew into a passion for design and storytelling. As Print Editor-in-Chief, I oversee every step of the print process—from brainstorming story ideas to editing articles to refining layouts. My vision for Imua is grounded in ethical journalism, reflecting the interests of our students while documenting the story of our moment in time. This year, that vision feels especially meaningful as we celebrate Imua’s 100th volume—a milestone that honors the legacy of our past while shaping the future of student voice.

Leading a team of talented editors and writers has taught me the value of collaboration and shared passion. Together, we earned Best Single Issue and 4th place Best Publication in the State in 2024. I was also honored to be voted Most Valuable Staffer and to receive 3rd place in Nonfiction Storytelling and 5th place in Layout/Design.

To me, journalism is a conversation between the past, present, and future—a first draft of history that influences not only today’s audience but also generations to come.
