Variety Show

‘Iolani’s Variety Show, a highly anticipated talent showcase featuring both students and faculty, offered me the chance to capture some of the most exciting moments of the school year. As a photographer, I strive to capture the energy of each performance, whether it’s a magic show or a breakdancing routine. One of my favorite photos from the event is of the crowd, with everyone raising their phones and waving their flashlights to the music, because it really captures the sense of unity and excitement that fills the room.
Thanksgiving Food/Period Drive

It was really exciting to be able to cover the Thanksgiving food and period drive, as it gave me the opportunity to highlight students actively engaging in service initiatives. I am glad that I was able to capture mostly candid shots of students sorting canned goods or organizing period product donations. One of my favorite photos was of a student dressed in a lettuce costume, holding a sign to promote the drive. This photo was especially memorable because it was later reposted on the ‘Iolani School Instagram!
Medieval Faire

The Medieval Faire is a highly anticipated event for 6th graders, as they spend most of their third quarter preparing for their roles in a medieval-inspired setting. I had the opportunity to attend and capture many moments of students in their various roles, including the jesters, calligraphers, bakers, and surgeons. I really enjoy these photos because they highlight such a unique tradition at ‘Iolani, and I feel they truly capture the essence of the students and their roles during this special event.
Rainbow Day

During "Read Across America Week" in Lower School, the students dressed up for Rainbow Day, and I had the chance to capture some amazing moments. Taking photos of the younger students is always fun because they’re constantly running around, playing, and radiating happiness. I loved being able to capture not only their joy but also their lively spirit and enthusiasm as they participated in the dress-up days!
